Beauty Changes Lives' Legacy of Style Event Honors Vidal Sassoon

Celebrity hair and makeup artists came together on September 24th for a charity event called Legacy of Style, held at the posh Peninsula Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA. The event was hosted by Beauty Changes Lives (BCL), an organization created by the American Association of Cosmetology Schools (AACS) to raise the image and awareness of careers in beauty industry through scholarships and mentoring programs. The guest list included such prominent beauty pros as celebrity groomer and hairstylist Diana Schmidtke, who counts Rob Pattinson and Christian Bale among her regular clients; Ken Paves; Robert Cromeans; and Enzo Angiler, who regularly works with Charlize Theron, Katie Holmes and Gwyneth Paltrow. BCL President and President of Bellus Academy Lynelle Lynch presented the first Legacy of Style award to Vidal Sassoon. The award will be given annually to an individual in the beauty industry who has demonstrated a vision for beauty that follows in the tradition and imagination established by Vidal Sassoon. Also on hand to help present the award were two of BCL’s board members, Reuben Carranza, North American CEO, managing director, P&G Salon Professional, and Robert Passage, global ambassador for Pivot Point International; Sassoon’s daughter, Eden Sassoon, accepted the award in his honor.

“We chose Vidal Sassoon as our recipient for the very first year, not only because he is a legend, but because of what he means to our industry,” Lynch said. “It is BCL’s mission to inspire artists to give back to their communities, inspire future artists and create a high level of respect, which is what Vidal Sassoon has done so profoundly. With BCL’s scholarship and mentoring programs, we hope to create many more stylists like Vidal Sassoon.”
