The International Beauty Show New York (IBS NY) just wrapped in the Big Apple, and once again, the show did not disappoint, delivering nonstop inspiration to the scores of beauty professionals and students from around the word who attended. Held at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, the three-day annual education event featured inventive techniques, fashion-forward trends and plenty of innovative products.
“The longest-running beauty show in North America—now in its 103rd year—featured a vibrant Main Stage, a dedicated Barber Stage, exhibits and competitions, more international exhibitors, a job fair, more than 100 classes and access to New York’s largest skincare show,” Liza Wylie, who serves as vice president, Beauty, Spa, and Wellness Events for Questex, told me.
In addition to honing their artistry in hands-on workshops such as DJ Muldoon’s Take the Fear Out of Cutting!, Candy Shaw’s Painting Balayage and Ryan Teal’s Dry Haircutting for the Modern Stylist, attendees got the chance to check out The Barbershop, featuring educational presentations and competitions in key categories like Lady, Traditional, Speed Fade and Freestyle. Beauty pros also learned about the latest trends in Main Stage segments. Among the highlights: Artist Nick Arrojo led Arrojo Inspiration, which offered a portal into the fashion-forward techniques of tomorrow, and Aaron Johnson and the Collective debuted a one-of-a-kind multimedia presentation showing the evolution of their creative work. Also earning rave reviews was Leading Ladies, a panel of female industry gurus who shared tips, trick and insights into how they made it in professional beauty.
