Settled in 1629, Marblehead, MA, is a coastal town known for its contributions to the American Revolution and Civil War, as well as for being the birthplace of the American Navy. Located just 18 miles from Boston, this town is home to quaint narrow streets and historic 17th and 18th century buildings, but locals can still find a taste of big-city modern life at Bliss Salon.

Bliss owners Rich and Kim Cutting opened the salon in 2001 with just 800 square feet of space and three hairstylists. Now the salon's space is nearly 3,000 square feet and it has 16 employees. According to Rich, the reasons for the salon's growth are its commitment to client satisfaction and its dedication to education. Stylists are required to attend classes offered by Bumble and bumble and Goldwell. "Our approach to education has resulted in a team of dedicated professionals—a team who offers superb service and a vibrant, focused atmosphere," Rich says.

The salon's vibrant, industrial decor incorporates a bright orange, red and blue color palette, stainless steel and exposed ceilings. Known for its color and color-correction services, the salon boasts a color bar that seats eight clients. Clients can also receive cuts, blow-outs and waxing. Recently, the salon partnered with Radiant Touch Studio, a laser hair removal and skin rejuvenation center located inside the salon, to add massages to its menu of services.

Community service is also important to the Cuttings. This year, they started working with the North Shore ARC to offer complimentary haircuts to people with physical or intellectual challenges.
