Big Fish, Small Pond

Naples, FL, was founded in the late 1880s by former U.S. Senator John Stuart Williams and businessman Walter N. Haldeman. Throughout the 1870s and '80s, the city's mild climate and abundant fish and game led many to compare it to the Italian Peninsula, describing it as being superior to the Bay of Naples in Italy. The city, which today has an economy largely based on tourism, is home to Ncolor Salon + Boutique2, pampering locals and visitors alike with top-notch customer attention and services.

"Most of our clients are from large, metropolitan areas and are accustomed to that 'big city' salon experience," says Gary Harlan, owner of Ncolor. "They are looking for the quality of expertise that they get in salons in big cities like New York and Chicago." The 2,400-square-foot salon strives hard to provide locals with impeccable customer service, highly skilled professionals, and an organized and clean environment.

The salon, which opened in 2001, specializes in color, styling and hair repair treatments. The salon also offers hair extensions and wigs, makeup application, eyelash extensions and brow tinting. With a decor best described as contemporary metropolitan, the salon features soothing graphite and bone white colors. A boutique stocked with fashion accessories, such as jewelry and handbags, offers clients a place to stroll through between or after services.

Ncolor sees a diverse clientele each day—from upscale travelers to stay-at-home moms. To keep current clients loyal and attract new clients, the salon hosts several client-appreciation events during the year. Such events include makeup and skincare parties and styling tool events. "All of our clients are looking for one common thing—quality hair services," Harlan says. Ncolor offers clients these top-notch services, but with small town charm and in a comfortable atmosphere. —NICOLE PALMIERI
