Bright Idea

MALYNDA VIGLIOTTI, owner of Boom Boom Beauty Bar in Manhattan, attracts new customers—and keeps her appointment book full—with Lifebooker, a new online concierge. Here's how it works: Consumers visiting lifebooker.com can book appointments at various beauty locations, often at a deep discount. Every time a consumer books a new appointment, the service provider receives an automated call (provided by angel.com) prompting them to confirm the appointment online. The company currently serves only the New York City area, but plans to add new markets soon. "Most small-business owners can't afford to advertise in The New York Times," Vigliotti says, "so it's a great way to bring in new clients." Visit lifebooker.com for more information. —L.A.
