A two-story office building in Dublin, OH transformed into an elegant salon and day spa when The Spa at River Ridge moved in.
The Spa at River Ridge in Dublin, OH is best described as a warm and welcoming space. The 18,000-square-foot salon, which moved to a different building in 1996, features wooden floors, merlot-colored curtains and granite countertops. The walls are painted burgundy and neutral shades for a homey feeling. “We asked clients what they loved about our salon,” says Peigi Fisher-Hanson, owner and stylist at The Spa at River Ridge, “so we mirrored our cozy environment when we moved in February.”
The first floor is the salon, which has 27 styling stations that are grouped in different rooms that were once large offices. “Having a few styling chairs per ‘office’ creates that intimate feeling we were after,” says Fisher-Hanson. The service menu includes cut, color, styling and chemical treatments. Minardi Color Perfect Lighting surrounds each station, while oval-shaped chandeliers hang above each of the shampoo bowls, which are located outside the styling rooms. The second floor features the skincare area, manicure and pedicure stations, and a massage department. The offices on the second floor were ideal for the massage rooms, she says. Each floor even has its own employee lounge, laundry and dispensary. To keep operations running smoothly in such a big salon, Fisher-Hanson delegated department managers to oversee the 72 employees.
A second-floor suite with three shampoo bowls is the perfect space for bridal or corporate parties. “The party can be upstairs and it won’t bother regular guests,” she says. The most popular services are haircolor, body treatments and Shellac manicures and pedicures.
Fisher-Hanson says her goal for The Spa at River Ridge is to provide a home-away-from-home feeling. “It’s the perfect place for people coming and going in the Columbus area.” ✂ —Desiree Cole
