Champú Salon

In every small town across America, there’s at least one salon that raises the bar for everyone else. Jackson, WY (population 9,838) has Champú Salon.

The town of Jackson, situated on the southern end of Jackson Hole valley in Wyoming, has no shortage of beautiful surroundings, like nearby Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone National Park. The Western town is also known for its outdoor recreational offerings like skiing, horseback riding and hiking.

When visitors and residents aren’t taking advantage of the scenic trails, they’re finding beauty inside Champú Salon, which provides services ranging from cuts and colors to facial waxing and special-event styling. “We’re probably best known for our amazing color services, especially our blondes,” says Kristen Piontek, salon manager. “Women who have been searching for the perfect blonde come to us and leave with the color they’ve always wanted but never had.”

The salon was established in 2005 as Mimi Hair and Body Care and operated out of Bloom & Greens flower shop. The salon grew in popularity, and in 2011 Shara Buday bought it from her sister and rebranded the business as the full-service Champú Salon. In November 2013, the space underwent a full remodel, and was infused with Western elements to capture the style of Jackson. “The decor has rustic influences that allow clients to really soak in the feel of Jackson, but the modern, clean and chic style make the rustic elements feel glamorous,” Piontek says. A decorative metallic antler mounted near a modern chandelier is just one example of the rustic-meets-elegant aesthetic.

The salon caters to a variety of clientele, from young outdoor enthusiasts to middle-aged professionals, and educational opportunities abound for these clients, such as makeup parties and Beauty Boot Camps. The boot camps feature tutorials from Champú Salon’s team of professional stylists and focus on at-home hair and makeup styling. “The Beauty Boot Camp is a great opportunity for women to get together for a fun evening of champagne and beauty tips,” Piontek says.

At the end of the day, she adds, the most important thing is providing clients the best service the industry has to offer.
