Dina Piazza Brings Love of Rock N' Roll to Wild Hair Salon

Rock ‘n’ roll has played a big part in Dina Piazza’s life, both in and out of the salon. When hair bands were at their high point in the ‘80s, she was working backstage at shows and cutting hair for Metallica. Then she opened her own salon, The Wild Hair, in Wauconda, IL. After 18 years, Piazza recently moved to a bigger space in Fox Lake, IL.

Even at a glance, it’s obvious that Piazza loves Aerosmith. What started as an infatuation with front man Steven Tyler turned into a business idea when she was given a box of drummer Joey Kramer’s Rockin’ & Roastin’ Coffee along with a handwritten note from him at one of the band’s meet-and-greets. Piazza now sells Kramer’s Coffee exclusively in her salon’s retail area alongside Paul Mitchell products. When Piazza tweeted that she was serving the coffee at her salon, she was re-tweeted by Aerosmith within seconds.

Piazza is currently working on a book based on her experiences in the music industry and the salon, and soon The Wild Hair will be hosting fun events that include rock ‘n’ roll painting classes. But coffee and rock stars aside, at the end of the day it comes down to what the clients come in for, which also happens to be Piazza’s popular saying, “Hey man, get a haircut.”
