Editors Blog: Everything’s Coming Up Rose Gold

It's a tough job testing out everything beauty, but somebody's gotta do it. Follow along as I share the latest and greatest in products, trends and beauty news from my post as Senior Editor of American Salon.

From fashion to makeup and now hair, the latest “it” shade everyone is dye-ing for. We saw the beginnings of the trend popping up on celeb tresses in the spring of 2014, but rose gold hair is one of the hottest colors that have carried over and isn’t going away anytime soon. According to Aura Friedman, colorist at Sally Hershberger Downtown, “the shade is the perfect mix of warm, golden blonde and cool, powdery pink.” The soft, ethereal hue is flattering on practically everyone because it strikes the right balance between warm and cool undertones, and can be easily personalized according to skin tone. It’s a versatile color that has staying power. If it’s any indication, “hair companies are now coming out with products that actually create the colors whereas before, I would mix them up on my own in the salon for clients,” says Friedman. In fact, Redken is set to launch Rose Gold Blur as part of their new Luxe Blur collection in May. Complete with the shade formulas, tools and instructions for carrying out this haircolor blending technique, a customized and multi-tonal color can be achieved.
