Finalists are Announced for a Green School Makeover, Presented by Pureology

Ten schools across the country were selected as finalists of the Global Green USA Green School Makeover Competition, presented by Pureology. A panel of judges will evaluate the schools and select one winner of a grand prize for energy efficiency and sustainability upgrades, valued at $130,000.

“Pureology is proud to have supported Global Green’s extraordinary programs over the past two years and to increase our support in 2011 by presenting Global Green USA’s Green School Makeover Competition to help improve the lives of students while educating parents, teachers, students and the public about the importance of creating healthy green classrooms,” said Shae Kalyani, vice president of marketing for Pureology. “Throughout 2011, Pureology will offer client product promotions in salons and donate a total of $250,000 to Global Green USA’s Green School Makeover Competition Presented by Pureology.”

The ten finalists, including public, private and charter schools, were selected out of more than 200 entries, based on the the school's green challenges and need for a makeover. Each application included green improvement proposals, such as planting organic vegetable gardens and creating recycling programs. On December 6th, one grand prize winner will be selected to receive the Green School Makeover, which includes $65,000 for school rennovations and $65,000 worth of technical assistance.
