Frank Gironda Salon held a fundraising contest to benefit the NOCC.

Frank Gironda Salon and Day Spa, a Pureology salon in Naperville, IL, partnered with its neighbor, Zanos Salon, to raise awareness about ovarian cancer by holding a contest that raised $2,000 for the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition (NOCC). The salons competed in a friendly nine-week contest to increase their sales in Pureology hair products, and each salon donated $1,000 from the sales proceeds to the NOCC, making this the biggest fundraiser Frank Gironda Salon and Day Spa organized.

“We’re competing businesses, but we’re thrilled to come together for a cause and make a difference,†says Chris Damolaris, President of Frank Gironda. “We want to bring awareness to the NOCC, and because we’re focused on building such strong relationships with our clients, we could get the word out there faster than other types of businesses. Who better to do that than stylists who spend their days chatting with and beautifying 15 people a day?â€

Damolaris notes that Frank Gironda’s clients were eager to help. “They came to us with stories of how ovarian cancer affected them—that their mother or aunt was diagnosed,†he says. “It’s something that really touches the community.â€
