More than 2,700 beauty professionals from 42 countries attended the Farouk Systems USA's 13th Annual Conference in Cancun, Mexico. The international sales and educational conference's theme was It's All About You, which reflects the company's recognition of everyone involved in the growth and success of the company. Founder and CEO Farouk Shami dedicated the event to his entire workforce and distributors. "Without them this company wouldn't be where it is today and this is my way of letting them know how much their continued hard work is appreciated," said Shami.

Traditional and futuristic hair trends created by Team Mexico kicked off the conference. Attendees learned that model Danielle Hayes will be Miss Silk Therapy and will appear in the company's first national television commercial for the BioSilk haircare line. Shauky Gulamani, senior vice president of sales, marketing, education, and shows, announced a number of new product launches including a line for highly textured hair; BioSilk Kids line; CHI Silk Transformation System, a Silk straightening system; and additional products for the Power Plus System and BadAzz Hair Mixer Artist Collection.

Special guest Ralph Nader, Green Party presidential candidate and consumer advocate, addressed issues pertinent to the salon work environment and the beauty industry. He made numerous recommendations on how attendees could make their salons safer such as keeping them ammonia-free—something that Shami has long advocated. "The success of our company is due to everyone's hard work, perseverance, and passion for our industry," said Shami.
