Get the Look: How-tos From the Hairstylists Who Created the Hottest Looks at the Academy Awards

It was Hollywood’s biggest night as industry A-Listers walked down the red carpet for the 86th Annual Academy Awards. Celebrities donned customized and straight from the runway fashions created by the world’s top designers, but it was the glamorous beauty looks that could not go unrecognized. From classic updos and chic pixie cuts to sultry waves, it was the hairstyles that stole the show. Here are some of our favorite looks of the night with complete how-tos from the celebrity hairstylists.

Oscar nominated actress Amy Adams was a vision in navy on the red carpet. Celebrity Hairstylist Renato Campora for Kérastase used Frazer Harrison/Getty Imagesproducts from the brand's Couture Styling collection to give Amy a slick-backed, sculpted French twist to compliment the elegance of her dress. Here is the step-by-step:

Apply Kérastase Mousse Bouffante to wet hair and part on the left side distributing Kérastase Forme Fatale from mid-lengths to ends. Take the top section and separate it from the rest of the hair, creating a French twist with the remaining back section. Pin into place with bobby pins and apply Kérastase Forme Fatale throughout all sections. Curl the remaining top section with a 1" barrel iron to create waves. Let the hair cool and brush through. Pull the top lengths back, combining them into the French Twist and pin. Polish off the look with Kérastase Laque Couture.

Celebrity hairstylist for Wella Professionals, Renato Campora styled the tresses of Allison Williams, keeping her hair fresh and elegant to showcase the beauty of her Emilia Wickstead gown. Here is the step-by-step:

Apply a generous amount of Wella Professionals Natural Volume Mousse from roots to tips to prep hair and build a strong foundation for the look. Blow-dry hair using a round brush to create volume and bounce. Create a deep side part, pulling hair on both sides very night against the head, and secure with bobby pins. Mist remaining hair with Wella Professionals Thermal Image Heat Protection Spray, and using a 1-inch barrel iron, curl hair to give the hair shape and volume. Let cool and brush curls through. Roll remanding hair under, tucking it at the nape of the neck to create almost a faux bob. Secure with bobby pins to keep the look in place. To finish, set the style with Wella Professionals Stay Essential Finishing Spray.

Ellen Degeneres rocked a powerful pixie to complement her menswear inspired attire. Hairstylist Laini Reeves turned to Rene Furterer's stellar range of versatile styling products. Here is the step-by step:

Spray Rene Furterer VOLUMEA Volume Conditioning Spray-no rinse at the roots. Blow-dry while twisting the hair into small sections, creating a bend all over. Create volume on the crown and on the sides with a small round brush. To finish, apply Rene Furterer MODELING PASTE, and tousle the hair a bit with fingers to enhance the texture and to adjust the shape.

Beauty trendsetter Diane Kruger’s hairstyle was very edgy and modern thanks to Moroccanoil’s Kylee Heath, who was inspired by her amazing lace Valentino gown.  Here is the step-by-step:

Draw a dead-straight part down the center of damp hair. Apply Moroccanoil Volumizing Mousse and Root Boost from root to mid-shaft and Moroccanoil Treatment Light to ends. Blow the hair out using  35mm Boar Bristle Round Brush then section off the bangs as well as a 1/2” strip from each ear, downwards, all the way to the nape of the neck. Secure this section with an elastic at the center back nape and wove it into a single braid. Mist the main section of the hair with Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray and brush it smooth in a backward direction. Weave the remaining hair into 15 small braids then wrap two fine braids from left-to-right and then right-to-left to create a finely braided headband. Loop the remaining braids under and tuck them into the base of the braided section—pinning along the way. Wrap the last braid horizontally across the top of the chignon to finish it off. Mist the hair with Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray to add shine and long-lasting hold.

Academy Award presenter Jennifer Garner wore a silver tiered fringe dress from Oscar de la Renta accessorized with Forevermark jewels. To contrast the structured silhouette of the dress, hairstylist, Adir Abergel, created soft loose romantic waves that were accented by a side-swept bang using Oribe products. Here is the step-by-step:

Prep the hair with  Oribe Maximista Thickening Spray. Apply Oribe Grandiose Hair Plumping Mousse, focusing on the roots. Create a deep side part before rough-drying hair. Use a small round brush on the fringe to direct hair to one side. Finish the by misting sections of hair with hair spray and curling with a 1-inch curling iron to create soft waves.
