Global Zoom 2015: Goldwell and KMS Present World Artistic Event

Over 2,500 hairdressers from all over the world came together to celebrate a unique and well-known artistic event with a new name: Global Zoom Event, previous known as the Color Zoom Event. Goldwell and KMS invited stylists to the Global Zoom Event in Las Vegas on 4 & 5 October 2015 to experience the excitement of inspirational artist sessions, an extraordinary gala show, amazing parties and of course the world premiere of Goldwell’s Color Zoom 2016 Collection.

The welcome session was the perfect start to the Global Zoom Event 2015. The guests were given a fantastic overview over the latest developments in the world of Goldwell – from new products to new programs such as the launch of the New Kerasilk Premium Haircare product line presented by Mark Leeson (British Hairdresser of the Year 2014), Goldwell‘s new Master Stylist program “Essential and Advanced Haircutting” by Jay Mahmood and, last but not least, a first look at the new campaign for the 40th anniversary of KMS.

After this impressive session, it was time to start the competition. Every year, Goldwell invites hairdressers from all over the world to participate in the Color Zoom Challenge. Stylists can demonstrate their creativity and their own interpretations of Goldwell’s current Hair Fashion Collection in three different categories to win a place on the Global Color Zoom Creative Team. This year, participants had to interpret Goldwell’s Traditional Rebels Collection, and hairdressers from around the world represented their countries at the Color Zoom Live Competition. On Sunday, 4 October, all 72 national finalists from 28 different countries competed live and simultaneously in three categories: Creative, New Talent and Partner. They were cheered on by over 2,500 of their international fellow stylists.

The artist sessions were a fascinating way to experience two of the most award-winning and creative stylists in the world as they presented their collections: Benni Tognini, Australia's most award-winning hairstylist showed his love of color and cut integrating with each other to create graphic shapes, and Mark Leeson, British Hairdresser of the Year and UK Hall of Fame member, inspired all guests by showing true hairdressing excellence integrating couture clothing with world class color and editorial styling.

The gala show was certainly one of the highlights of the Global Zoom Event in Las Vegas. Over 2,500 hairdressers were thrilled to discover the new Color Zoom Collection 2016: D!SRUPT - an inspiring hair fashion collection that breaks with the conventional and invites stylists to challenge conventional style ideas. To create the looks for this trend, the team disrupted the shape, the color and the texture of hair. Breaking these three elements widens the scope for surprising creativity and gave our stylists the freedom to create unique looks with reinvented shapes, new coloring techniques and larger-than-life textures.

The gala show was not least also one of the outstanding moments because the three global winners were announced. All three had demonstrated astounding hairdressing skills in the Color Zoom competition:

Corinna Brown from USA in the Partner category – for color creations designed by stylists who have already worked for Goldwell in the past at shows or at seminars.

Natalie Cara Jones from UK in the New Talent category – for young, creative colorists with less than five years of professional experience.

Harley LoBasso from USA in the Creative category – for color creations with Topchic, Colorance and Elumen – for experienced colorists.

Helen Heinroos from Estonia (Partner category), Bram van den Eijnden from Netherlands (New Talent category) and Alberto Torres Trevino from Mexico (Creative category) won the Stylists’ Favorite awards. The

Goldwell Stylists’ Favorite awards are a new set of awards presented in the context of the Color Zoom Challenge. The unusual aspect is that everybody worldwide was able to participate on an online platform by voting for their favorite entry in each category from all national gold award winners.

Once the amazing gala show was over, Monday morning started with four special artist sessions. The Global Top Stylist Panel consisted of multi-award winning top stylists and hairdressers of the year from around the world such as Mark Leeson, Benni Tognini, Agnes Westermann, Shane Henning and Svetlana Jouini. They discussed to what extent and why it is necessary for successful stylists to enter photo competitions like the Color Zoom Challenge. The panel discussion was followed by the Color Zoom Global Creative Team's introduction of the Color Zoom’16 Collection – D!SRUPT. The Color Zoom’16 Collection presentation was directly followed by yet more creative input: the KMS Global Style Council presented the new and totally styled-look focused KMS Collection for 2016. And finally, Goldwell’s top stylist Mario Krankl brought world class long hair styling and his own unique sense of fashion to the Global Zoom Event with his latest collection – a perfect last of four special artist sessions.
