Hairbrained on Tips for Cutting Graduation

Graduation (defined as 1-89 degrees of elevation) can be tricky – and tough to master. But you can smooth the way if you set yourself up for success. Follow these three simple tips – and you’ll be well on your way to a flawless cut.

•    Tip 1: Point your thumb in your projected path. This will help you to control your shape.

•    Tip 2: Anchor either your knuckles or fingertips against the scalp. This will provide stability, and give you better control over your angle.

•    Tip 3: Cut palm-to-palm at lower elevations of the head. This will help you to create a flatter surface.

Though cutting graduation can be frustrating, with a little practice – and the right education – you’ll see consistent results, every time.
