Hope Springs Eternal

City of Hope's Spirit of Life Award honorees and founders of Pureology Serious Colour Care Cheryl and Jim Markham have selected a grand masquerade theme for their July 20 Spirit of Life gala, which will be held in Las Vegas at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. More than 600 industry executives are expected to attend the event to "create beauty and unmask hope." My friend actress Debi Mazar will host the event and present the Markhams with their award.

In support of City of Hope and the Markham's Spirit of Life campaign, actors and professional salon industry artists recorded public service announcements encouraging listeners to help support City of Hope's lifesaving cancer research, treatment and education. Those lending their time and support include actors Mazar, Eric Roberts and Kathrine Narducci; beauty industry legend Vidal Sassoon; Angus Mitchell, art director and co-owner, John Paul Mitchell Systems; celebrity colorist Kim Vo; Dean Banowetz, hairstylist on American Idol seasons one through six; Damien Carney, international artistic director, Joico; Sue Pemberton, international artistic director, Joico; Kaz Amor, owner, Warren Tricomi Salon Los Angeles; Michael Shaun Corby, global creative director, Alterna; and Sonya and Christopher Dove, owners of The Doves Studio, Santa Monica, CA, and Wella Professionals creative directors. The public service announcements will air on various beauty industry Web sites this spring including americansalonmag.com.
