How One Group of Hairstylists is Giving Back Worldwide

Four years ago hairstylist Alex Budai created Hair4Humanity, a nonprofit dedicated to giving back by spreading confidence, happiness and love. Budai assembled a team of top hairstylists from New York City, Berlin, Los Angeles and Tokyo, including Jared Mathias Riccardi, Andrew Inconstanti, Tarek Makki, Sirenity Suttles and Naoko Suzuki, and set a goal of helping people around the world, particularly in developing countries, by way of free haircuts.

"Our team has the talent and compassion to provide people with free haircuts and grooming, along with essentials to boost spirits and make light of bad situations they may be dealing with," Budai says. Internationally, Budai and his team have traveled to Puerto Rico to assist with efforts after Hurricane Maria in 2017, along with Budapest in 2018 to visit schools and host a 'Selflessness Day' in the country's capital. Here in the United States, Hair4Humanity offers free haircuts in New York City's veteran homes, shelters and schools, and teams up with local organizations nationwide to help out in their respective communities.

Next up, Budai and his team are headed to Las Vegas to offer free haircuts at the Veterans Village assisted living home for disabled veterans. While in town, Hair4Humanity will also assist with hair and makeup for the Runway of Dreams Foundation fashion show, where kids and adults will showcase adaptable clothing for people with disabilities.
