ISBN Membership Elects Two New Trustees

The International SalonSpa Business Network (ISBN) recently elected Peter Mahoney, owner of Head Shoppe companies, and Scott Missad, president/CEO of Gene Juarez Salons & Spas, to its Board of Trustees. Mahoney and Missad join the ISBN board in leading the owners and senior executives of the only international association for multi-unit salon and spa companies in growing both their own businesses, as well as the professional beauty industry. They will also serve as ambassadors to the industry for ISBN. Finally, they will help create content for ISBN’s Annual Conference (May 22-24, 2016, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA), as well as ongoing webinars and educational programs.

“We are so honored to have Scott and Peter join our Board,” says Rhoda Olsen, ISBN president. “With their rich backgrounds in educating salons and spas about effective, profitable and team-centric business practices, they add incredible depth and strength, and are already digging in to help ISBN work diligently on behalf of our salons and their talented team members.”

Mahoney owns the Head Shoppe group of companies, Atlantic Canada’s largest chain of full-service salons with eight full-service Head Shoppe salons, three full-service salon/spas under the H.S. Studio, Vitality and Vibe brands and a Hair Design Center school. With a background in business (MBA), his visionary and leadership accomplishments have been recognized with the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award. Mahoney’s commitment to creating change in the beauty industry led him to develop Salon Consultants International Inc. (SCII) in 1996, a consulting company that provides education and coaching on topics such as leadership, financial business planning and communication for independent salons and spas, as well as for chains across North America. He is also president of Summit Salon Business Centre and Salon Resource Group.

“The ISBN provides a premier learning, networking and continuous improvement opportunity for multi-unit salon and spa owners, and I am pleased and honored to serve its membership,” says Mahoney.

Missad is the president and CEO of Gene Juarez Salons & Spas, and also serves as a board member for the company of 10 salons and spas and two cosmetology schools. He has worked in the professional beauty industry for more than 30 years in roles such as senior vice president of sales for L’Oréal Professional and founder of Sun Bum sunscreen products. He is also the founder of Strictly Business, a nationally acclaimed beauty industry business development program for top salons, spas and stylists.

“ISBN is where business gets done by multi-unit salons and spas and their vendor partners,” says Missad. “Whether you have 2 salons or 10,000, the opportunity to network and share with the founders and senior executives of some of the most successful companies in the professional beauty industry is invaluable.”
