Long Lines

Time-pressed clients can now take heart: Colored hair extensions, which once took hours of weaving or glueing to apply, now take just minutes. So says celebrity haircolorist Nelson Chan, who's been performing his groundbreaking new Micro Color Extension process on some of L.A.'s most fashionable heads. "It takes only seconds to clamp the extensions onto the hair, so the whole head—from short to long hair—can be done in under an hour-and-a-half for permanent extensions," says Chan, who loves working with these extensions because they allow him to deliver brightly colored highlights and multiple colors without lightening or bleaching.

Here's how Chan's Micro Color Extension method works: After selecting the desired color and correct hair length, apply the extension near the root before locking each piece on a micro ring that can be easily removed. "It's a very healthy means to achieving longer hair, as well as an exciting new look," says Chan.
