The Grooming Lounge co-founders Mike Gilman and Pirooz Sarshar, who both grew up in the salon industry, launched groominglounge.com in 2000. What began as a portal for high-end, male-focused products, reviews and advice soon grew into three salons and a line of shaving and haircare products. The first shop opened in Washington, D.C., in 2002, followed by a Northern Virginia location in 2005. The latest outpost (right) made its debut in Atlanta earlier this year. "We've created a masculine environment where men feel comfortable," Gilman says. "For our clients, it's all about being gentlemen and feeling good about themselves." Services include cuts and waxing, which is very popular now.
