On Friday, March 9, three Austin area Matrix salons will team up to host the ‘Celebrate Your Color Color-A-Thon,' to help raise money for the Bastrop Pregnancy Resource Center. Clients can choose from a wide range of color services in exchange for donations to the relatively new organization that provides information, planning and support to young girls and their families with unplanned pregnancies. Matrix will support the color for a cause event, which will be held at Best Lil Hair House in Texas, with additional staff members and product samples. All stylists from Best Lil Hair House in Texas, who will be joined by salon teams from LeeAnn’s Salon of Bastrop and Heavenly Hair Salon and Spa of Elgin, will be using Matrix hair color products from the SoColor and Color Sync product lines.
According to Laurie Schneider, Best Lil Hair House owner, the Color-A-Thon fundraiser will benefit the Pregnancy Resource Center because the September 2011 fires' lasting affect on the area have led directives to overlook the small organization. “We felt that our event would be able to raise enough money to make a difference for the Pregnancy Resource Center,” she said. Still, Schneider pointed out that victims of the Bastrop fire will be invited to receive free color services.
The Austin Color-A-Thon is part of an ongoing series of nationwide events, Chairs of Change, an initiative launched by Matrix in January 2011 to encourage stylists to impact their local communities.
