Mercedes-Benz Fall ‘11 Fashion Week NYC: Lake & Stars

For the Lake & Stars show, the designers wanted to portray a woman who was sexy--but for herself, not her boyfriend. "They wanted a hairstyle that was sexy cool, not sexy boudoir," said Maria Kovacs, who, with Mario Iafrate, led the TIGI Creative Team. The highlight of the look was a sweeping fringe at the front. "Covering one eye is always sexy," said Kovacs. To achieve the style, the team layered the hair with Catwalk Thickening Gel Creme with Catwalk Your Highness Root Boost for a next-day, beachy texture, then finger-dried it. Next, they created a deep side part and separated the hair into two sections, top and bottom. The top section was twisted into a half-moon shape and sprayed with Catwalk Sleek Mystique Look-Lock Hairspray. The bottom section was pulled into a ponytail and twisted into a messy chignon toward the right side of the head. The two sections were then connected to create the illusion of a fauex bob. To finish the look, a few front pieces were pulled out to create an even more undone textured finish.

The makeup from Elisa Powers for Luminess Air was extremely simple. "It's supposed to look like she just got out out bed and threw lipstick on," Powers said. The lips became the focal point, adding a pop of tangerine color to an otherwise nude, dewy face.
