Mercedes-Benz Fall ‘11 Fashion Week NYC: Organic by John Patrick

At the Organic by John Patrick presentation this morning, lead stylist for Aveda Antoinette Beenders was creating a textured, natural look to complement the organic clothing line. “The clothes reminded me of Glastonbury in England—an effortless festival look,” Beenders said. To achieve the look, she prepped the hair with pumps of Aveda’s Pure Abundance Hair Potion for texture before spraying Air Control for additional volume and texture to the crown. She then twisted small sections of the hair, pinning them at the back of the head for a half-up style before finishing off with Control Force Firm Hold Hair Spray to secure the look.

The makeup look was all about achieving “sheer perfection,” according to lead makeup artist for Aveda, Janell Geason. “This is a beauty story, not a makeup story. I wanted to mimic the soft chiffons in John’s collection, while creating a contrast to the highly textured hair,” she said.  To achieve it, she used Tourmaline Charged Hydrating Creme to prime the skin and brushed on Inner Light Mineral Tinted Moisturizer. To the eyelids, she added a dab of All-Sensitive Body Formula in the center on top of a light coat of shadow from the Petal Essence Eye Color Trio in Gobi Sands to keep the look clean. For the lips, she used Nourish-Mint Sheer Mineral Lip Color in Opal for a hint of color before applying Nourish-Mint Rehydrating Lip Glaze just to the center. —Clarissa Nebuya
