As I walked backstage at the much anticipated Prabal Gurung show my curiosity peaked when a saw a table full of hair extensions in every shade. The theme of the collection was ‘uncursed’ with clothes and hair on the runway going from dark and edgy to light and pure. Paul Hanlon, lead hairstylist for Catwalk by TIGI, was inspired to create long, center parted, Japanese inspired locks to work with the collection. He wanted to achieve the look of Sissy Spacek in the 1970’s classic horror film Carrie. He first prepped the hair with TIGI Catwalk Curlesque Mousse. Hanlon added extensions to the hair and trimmed the ends to create a more blunt effect placing one side of the hair behind the ears. He finished with TIGI Catwalk Your Highness Shine Spray for an extra glossy effect.
Inspired by blue roses and skulls, lead makeup artist for MAC Cosmetics Charlotte Tilbury really focused on the eyes using teals and electric blues with minimal face makeup. The eyes looked like they came out of a scene from the movie Avatar. I couldn’t take my eyes off of them! To reflect his collection three different shades by Sally Hansen were used-Onyx a deep black, Blue Rose and Gilded Lily, a shimmering gold-flecked shade.
