Mercedes-Benz Fall 2013 Fashion Week: Reem Acra

Reem Acra's Fall 2013 collection of glam gowns and artfully tailored daywear inspired by the designer's recent trip to Japan dazzled down the runway in Lincoln Center on Monday night. Didier Malige, lead stylist for René Furterer, created a slick chignon inspired by a picture of Helmut Newton from the '80s with aggressive, shiny hair.

To create the look, he parted hair on a sharp diagonal using a barbering comb and applied René Furterer Volumea Volumizing Conditioning Spray and Vegetal Sculpting Gel for sheen. Didier gathered hair into a low ponytail, letting pieces on sides sweep over ears, and combed through with a generous amount of Vegetal Sculpting Gel and misting of Fioravanti No Rinse Detangling Spray. He twisted hair from the base of the pony to the ends, lifted and wrapped tightly into a coiled chignon secured with Japanese straight pins. A spritz  of Glossing spray completed the look.

Pat McGrath, celeb makeup artist, mixed a range of red and purple Covergirl products to define features. She swept a shimmering gray/purple shadow across lids, mascara on lashes and filled in brows with a burgundy pencil. Lips were the focal point in a bold, raspberry red applied with a pencil and cream color. Gina Edwards, lead nail technician for Essie, rounded out the beauty look with polished nails on hands and feet using Essie Bordeaux and Sole Mate on top.—Jennifer Barnes
