Mercedes-Benz Fall/Winter 2014 Fashion Week: Bibhu Mohapatra

An elegant updo by L’Oréal Professionnel Artist Amit Abraham complemented the Tibetan-inspired gowns and prints from Bibhu Mohapatra’s Fall/Winter 2014 collection. “The upswept style we created is a modern interpretation of a traditional Tibetan braiding—where hair is an expression of beauty, wealth and prosperity,” said Abraham.

To create the look, first prep hair with Volumetry Root Spray to add density before blow-drying it smooth. Divide the hair into three sections, and secure each section into a ponytail. Spray Infinium 3 Hairspray along the parts for hold. Apply True Grip Texturizing Powder to anchor the style before dividing the center ponytail into two sections and box-braiding—a technique used to create a three-dimensional braid by weaving four sections of hair together—with two-side ponytails. Leave 2½-inchs of the tail unbraided and secure with an elastic. Wrap the braids in a circular shape at the back of the head, leaving the ends untucked and secure with pins. Finish the look with Freezing Mist for long-lasting hold and Perfect Shimmer for a glossy shine.
