Mercedes-Benz Fall/Winter 2014 Fashion Week: Katie Gallagher

At Katie Gallagher’s fall/winter 2014 Wonderworld collection, large bows and enlarged silhouettes captured her theme of childlike details found in defunct amusement parks. Catwalk by TIGI’s Global Creative Director Nick Irwin created sleek hairstyles that transitioned into natural textures for the show, using the brand’s products such as Curlesque, Strong Hold Mousse and Wet-Look Gel.

Irwin mirrored the young, punk looks featuring shiny textures from the collection by forming a deep middle part and applying multiple layers of gel on the top of the head while leaving the ends of the strands product-free for movement when the models walked the runway. He wasn’t afraid to let some of the gel drip down or appear blobby on the top, which gave the hair a textured, glossy look for the show.

Katie Gallagher’s abandoned amusement park theme combined with the structured and shiny hairstyles inspired makeup artist Javier Romero to create a masculine yet soft look for the models using Mac Cosmetics. He kept the skin glowing by highlighting cheekbones, brushed up the brows and added a touch of femininity with powerful, dark red lips by mixing Mac’s Heart of Flame lipstick with Crushed Cranberry lipstick.
