Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Fall '10 NYC: Chris Benz

The Chris Benz fall '10 presentation

The Chris Benz fall '10 show featured brightly colored pieces in a rainbow of shades, many adorned with sparkling crystals and beads or vibrantly hued fur accents. The hair look, created by John Ruidant, lead stylist for Redken, was equally playful, incorporating texture, braids and twists. "It's a grunge-inspired look," Ruidant told me, "like a bad girl who's been sent to Outward Bound." To get the look, Ruidant prepped the hair by blowing it dry with Fabricate 03 heat-active texturizer and Thickening Lotion 06 body builder. He then separated the hair into two sections in the front and back, twisting the front and doing a diagonal braid down the back. Finally, he pulled the remaining hair into a ponytail loop on the side, leaving the ends out to cover the braid.

Key makeup artist for Lancome Daniel Martin finished the look with brown lipstick and liner that was a modern take on the opaque makeup seen in the '90s, and a shimmery brown eye lined with dark pencil.
