Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Fall ‘10: Ruffian

This morning I headed backstage at Exit Art in Manhattan to check out the hair, makeup and nails at the Ruffian show. Lead stylist for Bumble and bumble Neil Moodie described the inspiration for the hair as "a French girl who visits the moon." Moodie applied Bumble and bumble Prep Spray and Surf Spray to create the look, which is basically a futuristic take on a traditional chignon.

James Kaliardos for M.A.C was also inspired by the moon and planets when he came up with the makeup look for the models. Kaliardos wanted to create a look reminiscent of "a Parisian girl who goes to the moon." He used sparkly colors on the cheeks and sides of the face, either lavender or neutral colors on the eyes, highlighter on the corner of the eyes, and a fuchsia color on the lips.

I also spoke to CND's Jan Arnold who told me (and showed me!) that the nails feature a midnight blue matte color with a golden crescent shape across the cuticle. Gorgeous!
