Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Fall 2013 NYC: Creatures of the Wind

For Creatures of the Wind's Fall/Winter 2013 show for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, it was all about natural waves, a strong, but quiet existence and super funky nails—all to coicide with a collection that was inspired by the Memphis Design Movement and "Teddy Girls."

Odile Gilbert did the hair for Kerastase and created a cool look with a middle part and flat hair to the head that ended in easy waves. To get the look, Gilbert prepped the hair with Kerastase Resistance Ciment Thermique, a heat-activating lotion, and then used a three-barrel iron to create waves. Throughout she used Double Force setting spray to create fuller waves with more staying power and pinned the hair to set. Once cool, she raked the waves out with her fingers and added Elixer for the ultimate shine and gloss.

CND's Jan Arnold and her crew made graffiti nails that were '80s inspired for a youthful element. On a short nail, the shapes were graphic and bold with a color block of two colors and topped with squiggles that created the graffiti look.

The three color block versions were:

Electric Orange and Impossibly Plush Cityscape and Asphalt Studio White and Cityscape

The squiggles were done in Blue Rapture, Seaside Party and Faux Fur.

For makeup, James Boehmer for Nars created a strong look that was all about the eyes and beautiful matte skin— with a focus  more on texture rather than color. The eyes were dusted with a gold to match a pearl rose found in the shoes that Boehmer found to be most inspiring and the skin sculpted to have a touch of translucence.
