Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Fall 2013 NYC: Jeremy Scott

As soon as I stepped backstage at the Jeremy Scott Fall 2013 fashion show at Milk Studios in NYC, I was brought back to the ubiquitously cool punk rock era. The collection had the feel of the underground, rebellious youth of the late ‘80’s and early ‘90’s. Eugene Souleiman, Global Creative Director for Wella Professionals, used three words to describe the hair that he was creating to compliment Jeremy Scott’s vision, “rebellious, empty and cool.” He drew inspiration from the west coast skateboarding cultures with a look that he called “Desperately Seeking Susan meets California goth.” Black Wigs took center stage, making me long for the days when The Cure and Joan Jett ruled the radio. To achieve the look, customized wigs were placed on tightly pulled back hair.  Each wig was then cut to create a layered and faux shaved side. Although the styling of the wigs was consistent  for all of the models, each look was unique because hair color either blended or contrasted with the wig.  Hair was then sprayed with Wella Professionals Ocean Spritz Beach Texture Hairspray to create flexible texture. The hairstyling team then applied Wella Professionals Create Character Texturizing Spray for a serious hold that allowed the shorter pieces of hair to stand straight up. The look was finished with a spray of Wella Professionals Shimmer Delight Shine Spray.

Key Makeup Artist for MAC Cosmetics, Kabuki, applied vibrant colors that pushed the envelope. He focused on the eyes starting off by applying Chromacake, a water-based makeup in ‘Chartruse.’ He created a black lightning bolt line on the eye and finished the look with a bright green sweep of makeup on the eyes in  'Landscape Green.’ Patricia Yankee applied bright neon’s  from her new collection to the nails including, colors called ‘Son’ and ‘Reign.’ [caption id="" align="alignleft" width="150" caption="Finished Look"]
