Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2011: Joseph Altuzarra

Lead Makeup for M.A.C Tom Pecheux

Lead Makeup for M.A.C Tom Pecheux perfectly summed up the geometric looks at the Spring 2011 Joseph Altuzarra show, “It’s not a season of being pretty, it’s a season of being strong.” In terms of makeup that meant deep contouring based on natural bone structure: three stripes of a taupe/beige color at the temple, cheek and jawbone on evened skin tone for sophistication and power.

That power surged through hair; tribal elements in the clothing inspired Lead Hair for TIGI Catwalk Paul Hanlon to create three dimensional 'dos with techno fluorescent colors. Key to the look is a generous amount of product: TIGI Catwalk Your Highness Thickening Gel Cream and Root Boost to add hold and a sticky texture. Hanlon then backcombed random sections, misted with Sleek Mystique Haute Iron hair spray and flat ironed to create “blades of hair” that jutted out from the model's head. A splash of colored hair gel in green, pink, blue, orange or yellow above the ear completed the look.
