Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2011: Rodarte

Final look backstage

The decade on everyone's lips, and locks, is the ‘70s backstage and Lead Stylist Odile Gilbert for Aveda created lightly tousled hair with a natural innocence for Rodarte’s Spring 2011 show. “The look is inspired by teenagers in the 1970’s, so the effect is very organic, adorned with handcrafted tree branch and leaf barrettes,” Gilbert said. She blow dried hair straight with Aveda Brilliant Damage Control and created a strong side part held with Air Control Hair Spray. Gilbert then tousled hair with fingers using Volumizing Tonic and Damage Remedy Daily Hair Repair, secured with the thick foliage barrette and more Air Control to hold the lived-in look for the length of the show.

Bold gilded lips and lashes completed the look that flowed naturally with the collection; Rodarte designers Kate and Laura Mulleavy said the Redwood Forests of Northern California served muse this season.
