Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2013 NYC: Catherine Malandrino

Antonio Corral Calero, Moroccanoil artistic director, crafted the modern French twists at Catherine Malandrino's spring 2013 show. To get the look, he prepped the hair with Moroccanoil Treatment, then applied Root Boost (available in early 2013) at the roots and Volumizing Mousse (available in October) from the mid-lengths through the ends before blow-drying the hair. Next, he swept the hair to the left, anchored it with a series of vertically placed pins, and then rolled the twist and pinned it into place. He finished by using a 1-inch curling iron randomly on the front of the hair and Styling Gel (available in early 2013) to create a lifted wave, then sprayed the hair with Glimmer Shine Spray and Luminous Hairspray Strong.

Meanwhile, lead nail tech for CND Angie Wingle took care of the nail look: a metallic shade custom-created for the show by mixing CND Titanium Pearl Additive and two drops of Blackjack polish with Air Dry Fast-Set Top Coat. Key makeup artist for M.A.C James Kaliardos created the "moon-kissed" look, which featured shimmering highlights, a beige lip, and shades of lilac and purple on the eyes from M.A.C's new Archie collection. "Purple looks good on everyone," he told me.
