Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2013 NYC: Lela Rose

Lela Rose’s spring 2013 collection was inspired by the art of painter Jim Hodges; to complement the tk fashions, lead hairstylist Ted Gibson created a knotted updo that was “a little bit uptown and a little bit downtown.” To get the look, Gibson parted the hair in the center, created a little texture with a flat iron and pulled it into a knot at the middle of the head, leaving the ends out. Key products were Ted Gibson Build It Blow Drying Agent, Tame it Shine Lotion and Beautiful Hold Hairspray.

Ramy Soleimani, Stila’s new beauty director at large, created the makeup look, which featured a predominantly neutral palette on the eyes with a pop of citrusy yellow placed on the inside corner of each eye. Essie supplied the nail look: a metallic shade called Good as Gold. Arcona skincare was also on hand, ensuring that models’ skin had been properly prepped before the show with products like their new Brightening Gomage exfoliant.
