Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2013 NYC: Timo Weiland

The 1990s hip-hop scene was the inspiration for lead stylist for L'Oréal Professionnel Joseph DiMaggio's hair look at Timo Weiland's spring 2013 show. Instead of literally re-creating the styles from the era, DiMaggio put his own spin on them: The women wore ponytails wrapped with crimped Lox extensions with a twist on the top of the head to evoke cornrows, and the slick-textured men's look featured a horizontal part in the front lined with a nude makeup pencil to mimic the shaved line worn by '90s rappers like Tupac. DiMaggio used L'Oréal Professionnel Texture Expert Infinium 3 strong hold working spray and Serie Expert Volume Expand volumizing leave-in spray to achieve both looks, and also relied on Texture Expert Freezing Mist for the men's styles.

The nude nails were done by Dashing Diva using the new ColorFX line (in the Naked & Sacred shade) launched at Cosmoprof that features nail appliqués that are then set with gel on top. Toes were done with a matching shade of polish. James Boehmer, lead makeup artist for Nars, created the makeup look, which featured varying tones of blues lining the eyes, strong and graphic brows, matte skin and a glossy lip.
