Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2014 NYC: Calla

For Calla's Spring/Summer 2014 collection, the designer reinvented her usual ultra-feminine style for a grunge and surf-culture vibe. "Calla was really inspired by old issues of Sassy magazine from the '90s for this collection," Oribe Hair Care lead stylist Ramona Eschbach said. "It's grungy but cute; it's quirky and cool with fun colors, big zippers and some bathing suits," she told American Salon.

Eschbach created a variety of fishtail braids, both large and small, and incorporated neon string pulled from fabric used in the clothing. Each model was given her own individual look for added playfulness. First, dry hair was sprayed with Oribe Hair Care Foundation Mist, which was worked into locks to bring out natural wave and texture. Next, Apres Beach was spritzed through the ends to add more texture. A few strands of neon string were wrapped around a portion of the hair and were braided with it. The braid was then broken up a bit and the ends were misted with Dry Texturizing Spray.

For the makeup, Kabuki for MAC aimed for a fresh, beachy feel, or "a no makeup makeup look," he said. He swiped a peachy blush across the nose and cheeks for a sun-kissed look, added a shimmer to the eyelid, brushed a clear gel on the brows and didn't use mascara. Ultra-white Zoya Purity was painted on the fingernails, and a top coat was painted on the toes to complete the look.
