Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2014 NYC: Tadashi Shoji

The Spring 2014 Tadashi Shoji collection evoked empowerment and liberation as inspired by confident, feminine women that are fully themselves as shown through soft and delicate materials.

Showcasing this woman, Rodney Cutler of his namesake salon Cutler ensured the hair didn't take center stage but had a twist of street glam with a mane that was light, dry and airy. "The clothes detail the glam, so the hair should not overpower," said Cutler. To achieve the look, Cutler used Redken Spray Starch 15 while blowing hair dry, thus providing texture and strength. He then backcombed the locks for more added texture while using Redken Wool Shake 08 texturizing gel. This also helped in bringing hair back to a natural state while creating a funky garage chic look.

Katie Jane Hughes for Butter London used Yummy Mummy layered with Hen Party for a sweet, light pastel nail that was then made matte with Butter's Matte Finish Topcoat.

Lisa Houghton for MAC Cosmetics was inspired by pastels and watercolors t create a fresh, pretty face.
