Mercedes-Benz Spring ’12 Fashion Week NYC: Diego Binetti

Diego Binetti and CND both celebrated milestones and continued their relationship at the label's spring 2012 show at Hotel Gansevoort's Provocateur Nightclub in a masquerade bash that flooded the runway with flowy, bright colored and jewel accented dresses. Diego Binetti recognizes 10 years of design, and CND, 15 years of nail art.

In-sync with the party theme, Candance Manacchio for CND chose a bright coral-pink shade for nails, a color also found in the clothing. "It's inspired by the artisan woman, who creates work with her hands," she said. For the 'Harlequin Hardware' manicure, the entire base was painted with Frosting Cream and Raspberry Parfait was brushed along the perimeter of the cuticle and sides of nail. Next, a gel brush with acetone blended the sharp lines, giving a sort of acid wash for a feathery effect. Finally, for a true crafty touch, a molded copper or silver metal was applied to the tip of nails. Feet were treated to a meticulous pedicure and toes were painted the same Raspberry Parfait, with a super shiny top coat. "CND is all about making nails the ultimate fashion accessory," Manacchio said.

In addition to face makeup, decor you would typically find on a masquerade mask was applied around models' eyes and brows, such as the butterfly shown below. Hair was swept away from the face and crimped at the roots for airy volume. —Kristen Heinzinger
