Milady, a part of Cengage Learning, and a leading provider of beauty learning solutions, announced Deanna Beaver from New York Institute of Beauty (Islandia, NY) as this year’s recipient of the N.F. Cimaglia Educator of the Year Award during the Career Educators Alliance (CEA) Annual Convention.
Sandra Bruce, Executive Director of Milady, presented Beaver with the award during a dedicated ceremony on Saturday. This prestigious award is given to one educator each year who has exhibited the most significant contribution toward upgrading professional standards of education excellence, particularly within the areas of student involvement during the immediate past year.
Bruce praised the aesthetics educator for using technology and innovation to reach her students. During the announcement video that was showcased, Beaver’s colleagues and students described her as dedicated, encouraging, passionate and a role model. Her mantra is being committed to "raising the standards of our industry."
"With every student that I teach, I say this to myself, 'It's not enough for me to just be their teacher. I also need to be that role model.' With that statement in mind every day, I strive to give them my very best," Beaver said.
As part of her award, Beaver received a complimentary convention registration, roundtrip airfare and lodging and $2,500, courtesy of Milady. The N.F. Cimaglia Educator of the Year Award is co-sponsored by the American Association of Cosmetology Schools (AACS) and Milady.
