Mixing Business With Pleasure

At Mario Diab Salon in New York City's trendy SoHo neighborhood, busy professionals can multitask. The salon's Color Lounge has a conference table and Wi-Fi access for conducting meetings between—or during—services (other attendees don't need to be clients). The 1,800-square-foot venue features a chic black and white motif that sets the tone for both business and style, a mix that represents owner Mario Diab's clientele as well. The celebrity stylist has worked on everyone from Salma Hayek and Vanessa Williams to First Lady Laura Bush and makeup mogul Bobbi Brown, who often holds small board meetings during her appointments.

Originally from Beirut, Lebanon, Diab has worked in Paris, Washington, D.C., New York City and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. After working at some of Manhattan's top salons, he opened his eponymous shop last year in March, aiming to create a place where stylists didn't have to focus on only one aspect of hair. His staff is well trained in applying top-notch color and in cutting and styling different types and textures of hair. —L.M.
