Celebrity stylist Hasblady Guzman, known for her "green" approach to haircare, opened her third salon, Bokaos Aveda, at Los Angeles' hip, new The Americana at Brand shopping and entertainment development in May. Guzman found inspiration in the complex's 1950s architecture and feel. "That era embodies the type of clients we like to service: classy, sexy, timeless women who age gracefully and take care of themselves," she says, noting a large picture of Rita Hayworth on one of the salon's walls. The airy and modern 2,000-square-foot space features exquisite imported chandeliers, reclaimed wood-framed mirrors, and eco-friendly vinyl and straw mats. "It's very simple and beautiful, but also very functional," Guzman explains.

The salon specializes in Aveda pure plant-sourced haircolor and Great Lengths hair extensions. Bokaos also offers Aveda facials, which integrate ancient skin treatment techniques with state-of-the-art technology, along with radiation-free airbrushed tanning courtesy of a spray tan machine Guzman found in London and all-natural makeup application using Aveda's organic products. Guzman promotes a healthy lifestyle within her staff and her clients, who she says are already well-educated on the topic. —L.M.
