Oscar Makeup Category Officially Changed to Include Hairstyling

Last night The Hollywood Reporter announced that the The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences makeup category has officially been changed to include hairstyling.

American Salon happened to be with Ted Gibson—the voice and proponent for the cause—just after he received the news and he was very happy—beyond excited. "This is a great start," Gibson said about the inclusion with makeup. "We may not yet have out own category, but this is really good news for us—the hairdressers."

Gibson is still pushing for hair to have its own category on the Oscar ballot. For more information, visit the Oscar for Hair Facebook page or sign the petition.
