P&G Salon Professional Accepting Entries for its Student Stylist Competition

Attention all cosmetology students! P&G Salon Professional (PGSP) is conducting its third Student Stylist Competition at the 2012 America's Beauty Show on March 5 in Chicago, IL. Fabio Sementilli, PGSP creative director, will present first place winners with a check for $1,000, an all-expense paid trip to Los Angeles, CA to attend Wella Professionals North American Trend Vision Awards (NATVA), a one-year supply of PGSP product, and the choice of an in-school education course taught by a top PGSP educator. Second place winners will receive $500 and a one-year supply of product, while the third place prize includes a one-year supply of product and $250.

"Energizing and encouraging students to reach their highest potential is our goal at P&G Salon Professional," Sementilli said. "We are dedicated to providing exciting opportunities for the next generation of stylists."

In order to compete, students must take a "before" picture of their model and then interpret one of the looks within a chosen category from Wella Professionals, Clairol Professional and Sebastian Professional, using the Inspiration Guide. "Overall look" encompasses color and style, and also wardrobe, makeup and personal style. Students then submit the "after" picture to PGSP, and finalists in the three categories will have the opportunity to show their models on stage at America's Beauty Show, before a prestigious panel of educators and judges.

PGSP is also giving students the chance to nominate their mentor or instructor, recognizing that behind every great student is a great teacher. This person will receive the Instructor of the Year Award as well as an all-expense paid trip to attend Wella Professionals NATVA.

The deadline for entries is February 7. Rules and regulations can be downloaded from the website or on Facebook. —Kristen Heinzinger
