I was lucky enough to visit Lisbon, Portugal, in November as a guest of P&G Professional Care and Wella Professionals for the Trend Vision Award 2008. There, I got to witness first-hand a new chapter in the evolution of a company with a brand-new tag line—"Passionately Professional."

One of the highlights of my trip was having dinner with two legendary stylists who have signed on with Wella Professionals. Eugene Souleiman, who has collaborated with designers like Alexander McQueen and Stella McCartney, will be global creative director, style. Josh Wood, whose clients include Mick Jagger and David Bowie, will be global creative director, color. I was so inspired by these two creative geniuses, and you will be, too, in the months to come.

I also got a peek at Trend Vision 2009, four strong directional predictions that include InterseXion, which pushes the limits of seduction and mixes elements from the masculine and feminine worlds; Virtual Life, where the line between reality and fantasy blurs so we're free to create our own reality; Utopia, which suggests a softer world, full of emotion and with a futuristic feel; and De-Lush, which evokes a ripe, full, confident attitude of life and acceptance of who we are. If true leadership means being ready to take brave steps forward, Wella Professionals has taken a giant leap into a new and exciting era.
