Sharon Blain Held First US Educational Boot Camp

Sharon Blain, Australia’s pre-eminent hairdresser and one of the leading creative minds in long hair, took her award winning Boot Camp course to the Goldwell Academy Santa Monica, CA. For a full four days, from August 2 to 5, 25 students from across the country took part in the intensive styling course. The participants ranged from salon owners and international educators to students, past finalists and a winner of the NAHA awards. Blain covered how to create all types of waves, using tongs, blow waving, setting methods and incorporating these technical skills into the latest bridal and red carpet hair styling.

“We were thrilled to offer this unique educational opportunity to hairdressers in the US,” said Blain. “Boot Camp filled the gap in education, as it offered students a variety of skills with a combination of content condensed into one course.”

In addition to technique, Blain shared her brainstorming ideas behind her iconic collections, how she delves into history archives for inspiration, and her thoughts on model selection, lighting, styling and overall development of a successful collection.

“I have designed a blueprint for dressing long hair and I believe if you follow by my ‘rule’ there is no limit to what is able to be achieved with long hair,” Blain said. “It is incredibly gratifying to see students gain confidence and then become able to relay their new found skills to their clients and their career.”
