Skin Deep Salon and Spa Raises Funds for Childhood Cancer Research

Skin Deep Salon and Spa in New Providence, NJ, hosted a dinner and dance event on October 21 that raised over $35,000 for pediatric cancer research. The event, called A Night for Julien, honored 7-year-old Julien Collot, a brave boy from Chatham, NJ, who is currently undergoing treatment for Graft–versus-host disease that stemmed from his leukemia. The night featured a silent auction for basket donations from local businesses and a fashion show starring Skin Deep’s clients, who paraded down the dance floor runway showcasing updos, manicures and makeup done by Skin Deep staff members. The models also wore outfits from local stores such as White House Black Market, Bella Ro, Sadie, Jos A. Bank and Willow Street. Dina Manzo from The Real Housewives of New Jersey and the cast members from Animal Planet series Rescue Ink made special appearances, and Skin Deep owner Susan Barbaglia, her husband, Anthony Tomaro, and Jacqueline Collot, Julien’s mother and founder of the Julien Collot Foundation, gave inspiring speeches while MusicFlex, Inc. played dance hits throughout the evening. In a poignant moment that put the event in perspective, Tomaro read from a letter his daughter Gianna had written about Julien, “You think your life is hard? Try being seven years old and fighting for your life.”
