Inspired by stones-turned-jewels, Abraham Sprinkle of Keratin Complex imparts blondes with brilliant color and beautiful depth.

For a collection spotlighting bombshell blondes, seen exclusively on these pages, Keratin Complex International Creative Team Member Abraham Sprinkle relied on tools of the trade—haircolor, scissors, hot tools and styling aids—and channeled the geological process that transforms raw elements into precious gemstones. Each look began with an application of It’s a Blonde Thing Keratin Lightening System and was created “much like a gem being formed from sediment rock,” says the colorist and stylist. —Kristen Heinzinger >

Formula (toner): 1/3 oz. KeraBrilliance Demi-Glaze LiquiGel Color 9.2/9V and 1/3 oz. KeraBrilliance 8.1/8A plus 1/3 oz. KeraBrilliance 0.0/Clear and 2 oz. Demi-Glaze Activator

For this raw opal hue, Abraham Sprinkle used It’s A Blonde Thing Keratin Lightening System with the toner formula in a double-process application. To style he took one-inch sections, spraying them with Keratin Complex Flex Flow Flexible Shaping Hairspray and curling them with a small-barrel iron. He used Blondeshell Enhance High Shine Brightening Oil as he broke them apart. Next, he created a strong side part, secured a finger wave, and finished with Bold Hold Maximum Finishing Hairspray.

Formula A (toner):
½ oz. KeraBrilliance Demi-Glaze LiquiGel Color 9.2/9V plus 1.35 oz. KeraBrilliance 0.0/Clear plus 2 oz. Demi-Glaze Activator

Formula B (amethyst):
¼ ribbon inch Metamorfix Extreme Direct Pigments .22/VV plus 2 oz. Metamorfix Multi-Purpose Color Perfector

Formula C (sapphire):
½ oz. KeraBrilliance .09/B plus ½ oz. Demi-Glaze Keratin-Enhanced Demi-Permanent Hair Color 000/Clear plus 1 oz. Demi-Glaze Activator

For this fused amethyst color, Sprinkle used formula A in a classic toner application, then added formula B in diamond-shaped sections at the temple areas. He applied formula C to the outline of the diamond shapes, and processed. To style, Sprinkle used Infusion Keratin Replenisher and Glowtion Potion Styling Oil, and blow-dried for body. He divided the hair horizontally from ear to ear, twisted the back section into a tight French twist and secured, then divided the front section into three square-shaped subsections. He tightly pinned the outer subsections to the back of the head and created a topknot. He curled the top subsection with a large-barrel rod and brushed it into a sideswept S wave, and used Flex Flow Flexible Shaping Hairspray for an imperfect finish.

Formula A (toner):
1 fl. oz. Demi-Glaze 10.32/10NB plus .03 oz. Metamorfix .33/GG plus
2 oz. Demi-Glaze Activator

Formula B (garnet):
1 oz. KeraHold Keratin-Enhanced Permanent Créme Hair Color 7.62/7RV plus .06 oz. Metamorfix .62/RV plus 1 oz. 10-volume KeraHold Developer

Formula C (citrine blonde):
1 oz. KeraHold 9.43/9CG plus 1 oz. 10-volume KeraHold Developer

After creating a smoky, citrine-accented blonde, Sprinkle applied KeraBalm 3-in-1 Multi-Benefit Hair Balm and Vita Volume Boosting Foam, then blow-dried for lift and body. He used MoldMe Matte Texturizing Cream and Iconic Polish High Shine Pomade for a textured, crystal-like finish.

Sprinkle used the same formula as he did for raw opal. To style, he used a medium iron and Flex Flow Flexible Shaping Hairspray for an all-over curl pattern, then sprayed the sides with Bold Hold Maximum Finishing Hairspray. Next, he brushed each section back, securing behind the ears. To finish, he applied Iconic Polish High Shine Pomade to the top section and formed it into a seamless cascade of waves that blend into the back of the hair.
