Support International Women’s Day, now through March 15, with Dermalogica, United Nations Foundation, Kiva and Dell

In celebration of National Women’s History Month, Dermalogica is inviting its employees, stockists and customers worldwide to support the brand and their philanthropic division Financial Independence Through Entrepreneurship (FITE) reach a new fundraising goal to help empower 50,000 women entrepreneurs around the world. Jane Wurwand, philanthropist and co-founder of Dermalogica and the International Dermal Institute (IDI), was recently named Special Advisor to United Nations Foundation’s (UNF) Global Entrepreneurs Council to support their work to advance women and girls.

Retail and online purchases made within Dermalogica’s concepts spaces during the week of March 8 to 15 will receive complimentary FITE donations towards a woman entrepreneur, and IDI training centers will make loans in honor of students attending classes. FITE will also match the donation for participants who make a $25 loan to a woman entrepreneur.

The company began the celebration on March 8, the official International Women’s Day, with a weeklong series of celebrations with the United Nations Foundation, non-profit micro-lender Kiva and tech innovator Dell at South by Southwest in Austin, Texas. The celebration will conclude in San Francisco where Wurwand will join President and CEO of the United Nations Foundation Kathy Calvin, President and CEO of the Global Fund for Women Musimbi Kanyoro and Norway’s first female Prime Minister Dr. Gro Harlem Brundtland in a discussion about the global economic state of women.

FITE will make a donation on behalf of guests and provide consumers with Dell activation stations to allow participants to meet some of the women entrepreneurs they are helping across the world.

“Dermalogica is and has always been a company about women’s empowerment,” Wurwand said. “This is our brand DNA at its core. For more than 25 years, our business has been creating educational and professional opportunities for women around the world, and with this year’s International Women’s Day and activities throughout the month of March honoring women’s work, all of us at Dermalogica are fully committed in reaching our goal of funding 50,000 women entrepreneurs.”
