At this year’s Beauty Biz Roundtable (BBR) series, hosted by Mazur Group and Beauty Industry West, more than 100 beauty level executives gathered in an open forum setting to connect and share business ideas with each other. “We created the BBR series to give beauty industry executives a chance to meet and connect with each other on a more intimate level,” said Frances Mazur, president of Mazur Group.

Kicking off with a cocktail hour meet-and-greet, the sold-out networking event held in Santa Monica, CA earlier this month, was the seventh successful conference to feature inspiring speeches by industry leaders, including a keynote address by Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, executive vice president & artistic director of OPI Products, Inc.

For more than 23 years, Weiss-Fischmann has developed successful lacquer colors and sassy names for the popular brand. Though she claimed to draw inspiration from runway collections, modern street trends, social media and red carpet events, she attributed her true creative abilities to two important women in her life. “My mother represents the wise-woman stage of life, still loving beauty and its pleasures, though at a much deeper and soulful level,” Weiss-Fischmann said. “While my daughter represents womanhood’s ground zero. Both these women need what we offer, they just want it for different reasons. What is common to both is the fact that looking good helps them feel empowered.”

Of the mid to senior level beauty executives in attendance, a select few—including Jennifer Parks, senior vice president of national accounts at Sexy Hair Concepts, Adrienne Kramer, CEO/president of Pro Beauty Partners, Dana B. Myers, founder of Booty Parlor, Cindy Engstrom, founder & CEO of Sircle Advertising, Nicolle Lubman, president of MOR Cosmetics, Elaine Binder, president & co-founder of Spongeables, Kym Wechsler, founder and president of Calm and Scents, and Terri Ross, aesthetic business director for Garth Fisher, M.D.— delivered insightful speeches on how to better your business, touching on topics like consumer marketing, online expansion and company empowerment.
